Christian Songs

Below are some songs I have written, and recorded (just for fun).

God Come Down Fill Our Town

God come down
Fill our town

Show us your way
Reach all today

God come down
Fill our town

Do not leave one
without the son

God come down
Fill our town

Men are going to and fro
Yet few of them truly know
Hearts are lost hearts are hurt
Only you can bring new birth
Wash away our guilty stain
Come into our hearts again

Many war and many fight
Yet Oh lord this is not right
Some take what is not theirs
Oh God come and take our cares
Others cry when no one knows
Their life on the edge and so it goes

Some in passion some in lust
Make rushed decisions lacking trust
Children born to broken homes
If only they were not alone
God provides and God does give
If only men could to him live

Christian Poems/Rhymes

God's Heart

God is pure God is true
He will be with you in all you do
With sin he does not mess
He does not want us to transgress
He surrounds us with a shield
As to His Spirit we do yield
We know His way is the best
We give up on the rest
Chase what is right,
His law do not spite
Follow faith and trust
It is a must
Pursue love for God and man
And in his presence you will stand
Sit in his peace it will guard your heart
And from his way don’t depart
Flee from lust, and what is dark
Call on the Lord out of a pure heart

For your Friend

Look for the best in those you know
Because to others they may go
Find the heart of your friend
So friendship you don’t end
Surrender every hurt, and harm
God will be to you a healing balm
Overlook every fault
Don’t lock people up in a vault
Pray a little every day
And God will take your pain away
He will help show you the way
God is looking for the best in you
Rejoicing over all that you do
Share his love with those you know
To the hurting and needy go

Question: Where did sin come from?
Answer: From the apple sauce!

To get the joke think of the word "Source", the origin of things.

Question: What star has been lining their pockets?

Answer: Lionel Richie (pronounced: Line-all richy)

A young boy was good all week, did his chores, took out the rubbish, all in an effort to get a radio controlled car, what did he say to his Buddhist mother in a last ditched effort to convince her of his virtue. He cried “Can I have Karma” (Pronounced Car-Ma)

Some times I worry about Lady Gagga she is naked so often that she is going to catch a cold. Her latest song has some things worth considering. It is called applause. What do people applaud, if you produce enjoyment for people they will applaud you, if you do some thing noble and good they will do the same. Now the question I have for us tonight is if ten people looked at our life would they applaud us, or would there be silence. When our life ends and we are in front of the world and every one get to know all we ever did or said, every private thought, will at the end of our life people clap us, or will they be silent in shame. Now think of the famous people in the bible, why are they famous, they were not necessarily good parents, overly kind, but they did the works of the Lord, they were filled and moved by God. Now you will be applauded for being a loving parent, but if you love your family and treat the world like dirt you will not receive any praise.

Jas 3:9-11 My dear friends, with our tongues we speak both praises and curses. We praise our Lord and Father, and we curse people who were created to be like God, and this isn't right. Can clean water and dirty water both flow from the same spring?

Saul was a bit of a tough case he felt religion was about enforcing Gods law using any means necessary including violent force. He persecuted Christians with great zeal, imprisoning some, and putting others to death. Yet God had a plan for Saul. While Saul was on his way to hurt more Christians God threw him off his horse, spoke to him, and made him blind. This gave him time to think about his life, and relationship to God and others. A Christian came and prayed for Saul and he then could see.

Act 9:18 Suddenly something like fish scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see. He got up and was baptized.

It is interesting that scales fell from his eyes, scales are a hard outer layer used for protection. Some times we as religious people tend to produce hard outer shells that we use to protect our version of God. We act like Saul persecuting and isolating others, treating non believers with contempt. It can be very subtle, for me it is the radio at work, I judge the immorality I hear, and think negatively of the presenters. Yet this is not Gods way, I am not right in my thinking, God says not to judge those people who don’t know him.

1Co 5:12 Why should I judge outsiders?

We have to be so careful in judging the opinions and views of others, I know I have been wrong before, and I am likely to be wrong again. God says that we should come to know the great width and depth of his love. The bible says in 1 Corinthians 13: 5 Love … thinketh no evil. If God is not looking at the mistakes made by sinners, or our brethren neither should we. Saul thought he knew God, yet it caused him to hurt the very people God loved. I pray that God will create in me a pure heart that “thinketh no evil”.

The next verse may seem like gobbledygook to many, but it is actually a prophecy God gave to Satan when Eve sinned in the garden of Eden.

Gen 3:15 “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel”.

Eve had just sinned, but God said to Eve, I will put enmity between you and the one who deceived you. Enmity meaning fighting victory in the context of the rest of the passage. So even at her point of defeat to Satan’s temptation God said “I am giving you victory over him”. The second part of the passage says how God would give the victory. God choose to use the seed (a child) of the woman to have victory over the children of Satan. So God choose to use the seemingly defeated thing to bring victory. He sent his own Son in the likeness of man, God came as a man took on himself the flesh of a woman, was put to death as a sacrifice for sin, “bruised”, but not fatally, he rose again to restore Spiritual victory to Eve’s seed. So now we as Christians have “victory” over the seed of Satan (the works of temptation, sin and death). At Eves point of weakness God planned her victory. At your point of weakness God is planning victory, giving you power to “bruise” Satan’s head, to put to death his works of hatred. As his head is a sign of life, “crushing, bruising” it is killing his destructive desires, through God’s mercy toward us.

I was meditating on what God might have to say to us today, and I was reminded of a scene from Wreck-It Ralph. In the scene there was a cake and the person who had backed it boasted of the fact they had made a layer in the cake for each of their friends, with their favourite flavours. Ralph asked what his layer was made of and the woman said chocolate, Ralph said I don’t like chocolate. Ralph was an outsider some one they did not care about, so they did not know what he liked. The challenge for us is who are the outsiders in our lives those people we should know a little bit about, but in our hearts we can’t really say we care. Each person we meet is a beloved child of God, do we acknowledge them as such, or do we treat certain people as out casts. It was a real challenge for me, as I know there are people that I just present God to but don’t really love. Let us all grow in love for one another.

Last night I watched the Dreamworks film Rise of the Guardians. There is one thing that stood out to me. When talking to Jack Frost one of the guardians told him to look at a simple Russian doll, it had many layers, he said each layer represented a part of his character. He said some times he is courageous, other times jolly, but then he came to the center piece, and said but all of these things that I do come from my center, which is full of wonder. He asked Jack Frost, what is your center. Because it is out of the center of his being flows all that he is. The bible says:

Pro 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

What is your center. Is it kindness, love, gentleness, compassion. God’s goal is to keep our center good.

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance

Sermons about Suffering

<< Back to Menu

Engine oil is vital for the smooth running of an engine. It is designed to keep a vehicle moving under great pressure and heat. We will all at some point in our life suffer, situations will arise that appear to hot for us to handle. But with God in our lives he can keep us moving forward.

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:...If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you:

Each one of us must be prepared to stick it out when hard times come, we must rest in the knowledge that God has better things planned for us. Every time we suffer wrongly it leads to a greater release of God’s glory in our lives. It could be the glory of being able to relate to others who suffer how God has helped you endure hardship and bought you out to a greater blessing, or it could be an increase in the presence of God. Regardless of what hard situations you face God will find a way to increase you. Remember the story of Job in the bible, Satan took everything from him, his family, his dignity, and his health, yet in the end God restored many times more blessing to Job than he had in the beginning. Are you having a trial, or experiencing hardship, greater glory will come.

If you have ever seen the original King Kong video game you will notice it is all about avoiding the deadly barrels that are rolling in your direction. In life there are situations that come at us from time to time that have the ability to unsettle us to knock us off the pathway of life. If you seek Godly wisdom at these times you will safely avoid the negative outcome.

Pro 13:14 What the wise have to teach is a fountain of life and causes someone to avoid the snares of death.

Mat 5:4-5 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

I used to think God was saying blessed are those who have a low opinion of themselves. But that is not what God is saying. He is saying blessed are those who are weak in character for God will empower them with strength to take on the world. The meek don’t stay meek they take on strength of character. In the same way blessed are those who mourn, not because they are sorrowful, but because they will be comforted, sorrow will be removed from their life. God has come to abide in your life and when he abides there heaven comes with him. Expect something good in your life.

Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us

Gal 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Running can wear you out. The longer you run the tireder you get. The same thing can occur in life, we may start out with expectations, but if our goals are not met quickly we can tire and loose hope. The bible says to run with patience, patience is the ability to wait. If we do not grow weary, but patiently trust God, we will eventually reap a harvest of good things. God wants us blessed, don’t doubt that, but it may take time. The time you have to wait helps you learn what it feels like to go without, many people go without, and they need some one who can sympathise with them. You will not have to wait for everything, but if you do trust things will get better. But even as a harvest is many times greater than what is sown in the earth, so too will God’s blessing be many times greater than what you have had to give up while waiting.

When I was a teenager I had a rather large blunt saw, my father showed me how to sharpen it. I started to sharpen the saw but when I saw how many teeth I had to file down to finish it I gave up half way through the process and the saw was never sharpened. In life things are not always instant, and that includes the things of God. Often times God will get us to wait some time, even years to fulfill our prayers or plans. The temptation is to get what we want now, to take the easy road. Sin is a quick fix it temporarily fulfills our immediate need but ends up leaving us empty. If we persist in faith believing God we will end up with something better than we began with.

Heb 11:24-26 Then after Moses grew up, his faith made him refuse to be called Pharaoh's grandson. He chose to be mistreated with God's people instead of having the good time that sin could bring for a little while. Moses knew that the treasures of Egypt were not as wonderful as what he would receive from suffering for the Messiah, and he looked forward to his reward.

Does any body remember Mister Squiggle, he was a puppet with a pencil for a nose that would take a drawing with incomprehensible shapes, and squiggles, and turn them into amazing drawings. Like with any puppet he has a master, some one who controls his actions and does the hard work of creating the artwork. Sometimes our lives are like Mister Squiggle we are confronted by situations that appear incomprehensible, difficulties in life, hardships and challenges. Yet if we allow God to control our destiny he will take every difficulty we face and turn it around for our good. He takes the incomprehensible shapes in our life and tuns them into a work of wonder.

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Bird’s beaks are used for a dual purpose, not only do they produce a beautiful sound, but they are also used for work, digging, carrying, and other tasks. I believe that God wants our work to serve a dual purpose, to not just be labour but to produce something beautiful.

Deu 28:12-13 "The LORD will open his rich treasury, the heavens, to release rain upon your land in season and bless everything you undertake so that you'll lend to many nations but won't borrow. "The LORD your God will make you the head and not the tail—placing you above and not beneath—if you obey the commands of the LORD your God that I'm giving you today to keep and observe.

God wants his people to be blessed in their finances, and work, he also wants you in a position that you enjoy. You may say “Well why am I not blessed, why is my work hard and burdensome, and why don’t I enjoy what I do?”. We think to the story of Joseph in the bible, he went from a position of honour in his family, to becoming a slave in Egypt, if slavery was not bad enough, he then went to prison for years. Yet after this time God exulted him to be second only to Pharaoh, a ruler of all Egypt. God’s plan was his exultation. A point of note is that Joseph’s exultation came about as the result of his spiritual gift, his ability to dream dreams about the future and interoperate them. What would have happened to Joseph if he had abandoned God and his gift in the hard times, he never would have had his abundant blessing in the end. In my life I had many hard and bad jobs, jobs I hated, yet I prayed to God to give me better. It was as I made a decision to do more for God by going back to study, that I went from a position of lack to one of promise. I now enjoy my job, and would not choose any other profession. Your spiritual gifting will give way to exultation. Your gift may be teaching, helping others, providing finances for the poor, leadership, training. Know God want you to be the head not the tail. Still feel like the tail, well you are just on your Joseph journey.

Have you noticed that baseball gloves are designed for one purpose only, catching a ball. If you try to throw a ball with a baseball glove you will just end up looking silly. The same is true of life, we have been designed for a relationship with God. If we don’t include God in our lives we will find that our life will become like trying to throw a ball with a baseball glove. Things will be difficult, uncoordinated, and uneasy. When I was a teenager, and young adult, I did not have God in my life, my parents still took me to church, but I never involved God. I was fearful of my own shadow, weak emotionally, and did not want any work or responsibility in my life. My life only changed as I truly committed myself to God. Although I can’t say I am 100% perfect, my life is leaps and bounds better, rarely fearful, not at all weak emotionally, and I now feel connected to work and responsibility. My only regret in life in not involving God earlier in my life, I would encourage you to seek after God with your whole heart.

God is a bit like a cake decorator, he takes our bland lives and adds to it small things of beauty. Things which we can take pleasure in.

Psa 149:4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

Did you know that God has pleasure in you, he adds to you beautify, turning the areas of lack in your life into fullness of life. Consider the following verse:

Until now you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you will receive so that your joy may be full. John 16:24

Think about that simply with no religious bias, what is God saying. Ask me for things, and I will give them to you so you can be happy. Don’t think God wants you miserable, he actually wants to meet your needs, even the desires of your heart. Nothing is too hard for God, and nothing too small that he will overlook it.

In the closing scenes of the movie battleship a group of elderly war veterans team up with the hero of the movie to defeat the alien invaders. There is something special about elderly people when they act with courage and determination.

Isa 40:30-31 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Joshua was an example of a person the Lord kept young.

Jos 14:10-11 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive... and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old. ... yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now

We may not all remain physically at our best as we age, but the Lord has promised us strength for life. We should be as happy being old as we are being young. Our best days are yet to come.

Rev 3:20 Listen! I am standing and knocking at your door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will eat together.

When Jesus comes into your life he does not come to make your life miserable. He does not come to make you unsociable, and hard to get along with. He says he will come into our lives and eat with us. When we eat with a person we are getting to know them, having an interest in their lives, doing something good and enjoyable. God wants a relationship with you, he has an interest in your life, and will do for you what is good and enjoyable. He wants you to have joy and peace in your life.

When I was a child we had three porcilin fish, the first one was large, followed by a slightly smaller fish, finally the end fish was the smallest. This reminds me of a principal in life. If we compromise any standard, those who copy us may compromise further, then those who copy them may further compromise to the point that the original principal is disregarded. Take drinking as an example, the bible says it is unwise to drink, we may compromise and say “Oh a little bit will not hurt”, our children may see us and say “Well my parents drank, I will drink too”, but they may drink more. Finally the next generation may totally disregard any principal’s we may have held. We need to be the original fish, totally uncompromising, we should not compromise any of God’s standards.

Often at work I hear the Pink song Fun House, the Lyrics go “This used to be a Funhouse But now it's full of evil clowns”. This is a feeling many of us have experienced. We start out having fun then it turns around to bite us. It may be something as simple as overeating, for comfort we over indulge, and then feel guilty. Or maybe it is a sin we can’t seem to beat. We get a little bit of enjoyment then spend the rest of the night regretting what we have done. God wants to liberate us from all feelings of regret he wants to shoot us forward into liberty and freedom. He is not a God of deprivation, he does not take away fun from our life he just changes the methods we use to gain enjoyment.

Rom 8:28-29 And we know that for those who love God, that is, for those who are called according to his purpose, all things are working together for good. [He also choose us] to be conformed to the image of his Son.

God wants us to be molded and changed into the image of His Son. This might sound very religious, but when you think about it, Jesus never had a fear, he never had a doubt about life, he never cared what people though of him. He had no trouble receiving answers to his prayers. He was well liked and respected. Ultimately he was risen to eternal life, and blessing. God does not want you weak, timid, doubtful, and lost eternally. He wants you transformed gloriously into a victorious life.

In order to catch a fish requires some skill the knowledge of the right bait, knowing the movements of your quarry. Satan is a master fisherman, he is always looking for the best ways to cause us harm and catch us on his hook. He takes our normal needs and wants but adds to it a hidden curse, a hidden hook with which he can take control of our lives and direct us toward destruction. When God blesses us the bible says there is no hidden sorrow.

Pro 10:22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Do not be led by your natural senses, your desires for the best, desires for what others have, feelings and wants. Pray about every choice you are considering, ask God to reveal to you any hidden hooks, because it is by your own desires that you will become ensnared, by the things you want and need.

Gal 5:16 I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

It does not matter how bad your sin is, God is willing to wipe it all away, if we are willing to turn from our ways. Reasoning is a process that involves arguments from both sides. We need life, we need security, we desire blessing. God is willing to give us our desires if we are willing to turn from wrong doing.

The question for today is what are you eating? And I am not referring to food, but rather your spiritual diet. We may occasionally spin out and sin, and it will not effect our spiritual health, but if we constantly ingest questionable material, and actions, we are leading for a spiritual heart attack. It is not good enough to supplement a bad diet with some good food, mixing good and bad does not help, we need to eliminate the bad from our lives, so our health will recover.

Have you ever had an alarm go off in your life? Alarms are good they wake us out of slumber, and prepare us for the day ahead. Often times if we are not living the way we should God will prompt us in our hearts to change. When we hear an alarm we need to respond, don’t go back to sleep. Are you hearing an alarm, respond quickly, it is not good to make God wait months or years to do what he seeks. Ultimately the day ahead is good, what God has planned for you far supersedes your rest.

Mark 10:24-25 how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

We can all take on the attitude of a rich man. It is an attitude that says “I am fine without God, my life is good”, “or I will lose more than I gain in following God”, I will lose friends, prestige or the things I want.

Ecc 7:2 It's better to go to a funeral than to attend a feast; funerals remind us that we all must die.

Let us consider for a moment, are there things in your life that you feel you just can’t give up to follow God. Then ask your self this question, when you die you can’t take those things with you. Dwell on the day of your death, are you sure your interest level and relationship to God are sound. Will you actually be in heaven, or are you ignoring your own eternal life. Don’t just brush off the thought, stop, attend to the day of your death now not latter.

Mat 16:25-26 Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it, because what profit will a person have if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what can a person give in exchange for his life?

Are there certain things you are not prepared to give up to do what God wants? Giving up on sin leaving behind bad habits leads to life and blessing. Hanging onto sin leads to death emotionally, and in some cases to eternal death in hell. Is what you hold dear worth the penalty of death.

Life is a little bit like an exam. There is a set time to get life right and at the end of the exam we will be rewarded for our efforts. Jesus’ Easter gift is a little like an eraser, if we make a mistake we can get rid of it by using the rubber, any wrong thing we do in life can be removed. Like with a pencil and rubber it is no good just rubbing out a mistake, you need to replace the mistake with the right answer, you can’t keep entering the wrong answer and rubbing it out again and again, you will never finish the exam on time. Let’s all rub out our mistakes, replace it with the right answer, and continue with our exam.

Ships are designed with an axe like front to cut through the waves. If a ship had a flat front it would sail slower, and more effort would be required to push the ship forward. This design works because it obeys the laws of physics. In the natural world God has made laws that govern the lives of men. If we are wise we will learn these laws. We will learn what God wants, and how he has decreed success.

Ecc 10:10 If someone's ax is blunt—the edge isn't sharpened—then more strength will be needed. Putting wisdom to work will bring success.

Through prayer God has promised to answer, his reason being that we should have joy. God wants us happy and if we can learn his heart we will know we can involve him in the small as well as big things in life.

Have you ever noticed how important time is, cities build monuments to time, clock towers, bell towers, and in the modern era large digital displays that can be seen by many. Without time life would be chaotic, we would miss appointments, we would end up wasting our life. The same principal applies to God he has a heavenly clock from which we should be running our lives. But unless we are looking at that clock we will not be being productive in the earth. Prayer is the method we use to synchronise our lives to the plan of God, in seeking God he will reveal his will. If you pray he will give you revelation, instruction, and direction. If you fail to pray your life will fall out of sync with heaven, and without knowing it you will be either opposing the plans of God, or just not moving forward remaining stagnant. Take some time to pray every day.

According to a source from China, the Chinese have developed its own version of Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV) code name "Dark Sword". Unmanned combat has advantages, from the safety and protection of a control room an operator can bring destruction to his enemies with out suffering loss himself. The Christian life is similar to Unmanned Combat, God has given us a position of safety in Christ, a place of blessing, as we communicate to him remotely through prayer he fights our enemies for us.

1Pe 3:18 Christ died once for our sins. An innocent person died for those who are guilty. Christ did this to bring you to God, when his body was put to death and his spirit was made alive.

Steam is a service that is used by many computer games players. It is free to sign up, and once you sign up you can pay to download the latest games. Although you may occasionally get a free game you generally have to pay. The same is true of salvation, there is no cost to become a Christian, you just accept your sins are forgiven and you enter a new life. But just like you have to pay to download games on steam in the same way you will never get anything from God as a Christian unless you are prepared to pay a price. Sure God might throw you occasional free blessing, but you will never be blessed in life unless you spend time with God. The currency of heaven is not suffering but relationship, to receive from God you must spend time with him. This is fair would you expect your friends to give you gifts if you never spoke to them.

This week my father in law came out from China, it was good to meet him for the first time. However I did a silly thing when I parked waiting for him to arrive I accidentally left my cars lights on. And guess what my battery went flat. So I called RACQ Roadside assistance and they came out and using a portable recharge unit restarted my car. This got me thinking, we need to be like the RACQ in our Christian lives. We need to be charged up on prayer and God, full of his love, joy, peace. So when someone has an emotional breakdown we have the ability to recharge them with the love, forgiveness, and power of God. Don’t be too busy to pray, your friends, family, and world might need a recharge.

Sermons about Evangelism

<< Back to Menu

Today I am going to talk about two greatly misunderstood topics. Grace and Evangelism. The bible says:

Psa 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

This is one of the best pictures of grace. Rest or sleep. There are one of two ways we can be living our lives either in toil and sorrow, or in rest and contentment. The bible says we are saved by grace, grace in biblical terms is God 100% forgives all our weakness so we can have relationship with him. This relationship enables us to share in God’s nature and abilities. Grace or his unconditional forgiveness should give us peace, we no longer need to fear that we are not doing enough to please God, God is already pleased with us. But what happens to many Christians is they start to feel burdened by responsibility, one of these areas is evangelism, i.e. “What if I don’t share about God enough”, to make matters worse the devil comes along and says “People will go to hell if you don’t act right now, you are deserving of hell yourself for this act”. What many young Christians do not know is that they are not actually responsible for saving people from hell that is God’s job, for which he will at times use us. I was not saved by a preacher I was saved by a dream about hell that was sent by God. If you doubt God saves people himself read the following story of a man who was an atheist as he was dying with no one around him God spoke to him and shared the gospel with him, he was born again without anyone being around him. See his Near Death Experience (NDE) This should liberate you, you no longer need to feel unworthy for not sharing the gospel to every person you meet on the street. I actually share the gospel a lot but I don’t do it out of fear or duty, thinking I might go to hell if I don’t, I share it because I love what God does. I love the fact he has performed signs and wonders through me, I love the fact that he wants us blessed, I love the fact that he loves us. Think about the verse I mentioned at the start of this dialog, there are two ways to be living, in fear or sorrow, or in rest. A rested evangelist has far more to share than one who is fearful of God. If you can build your love relationship with God based upon grace you will naturally want to share about how good God is, but if you build it upon fear you will be a slave to God and hate him. Accept grace, and let others know they can have rest too.

We are like a pencil in the hand of God. He is writing out a beautiful plan for his world, using us as an instrument. The problem with pencils is they need to be sharpened and if the lead inside them is broken they become unusable and brittle. The devil hates God, hates his creation, and wants to destroy every thing good and noble, he knows if he can keep us broken on the inside, we will be of no use to our children, our partners, or our world. God on the other hand has a great love for each of us, and longs for communion to be restored with us. He wants our internal life to be strong, vibrant, and prosperous, he wants to tell you, “you can do it”, “you can make it”, and “I love what you do”. Do you feel tired, worn out, or burnt out, come to the one who offers living water and drink in his love.

Psa 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

Today I saw an interesting sight it was a line of caterpillars they were joined from head to tail. There were around four, each one followed the one in front of it. They were all lead by the leading caterpillar. It made me think of the bible term, being in one accord. In the bible times a teacher would tie a rope to his students, who all followed the teacher; each student would mimic the walking style of the leader. The students were said to be in one accord. We have all been lead by some one there are very few original ideas. We follow the habits of our parents, our friends, our peers. To be truly successful in life we need to be following the right ideals. Who better to be following than God, who has our best interests at heart, and if we let him will lead us into places of rest. Who is your lead caterpillar?

Sermons about Faith

<< Back to Menu

Today we are going to talk about one of the benefits of faith in God’s abilities.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Notice that faith is related to hope. When we have faith we believe that God is going to answer us even when we don’t yet see the result of our prayer. Faith in this way is related to Joy, we can have joy at all times because even if we don’t yet see God’s provision, or we don’t yet see the answer to our prayer we believe that we will have the answer soon. This belief keeps us sound, and keeps us in a state of praise. Believe God and you will have joy. Look at your circumstance as unbeatable and you will lose hope.

Mat 17:20 I can promise you this. If you had faith no larger than a mustard seed, you could tell this mountain to move from here to there. And it would. Everything would be possible for you.

Mar 4:31 It is like what happens when a mustard seed is planted in the ground. It is the smallest seed in all the world. But once it is planted, it grows larger than any garden plant. It even puts out branches that are big enough for birds to nest in its shade.

Notice how Jesus uses a picture of a small seed to proceed his works. We only need a small insignificant believing prayer to move impossible situations. The kingdom of heaven is also referred to by Jesus as starting as a small seed. It is our small seed of faith at salvation, and insignificant act of acceptance of the message of Christ that leads us into a great big flourishing life. Many unbelievers have been deceived into believing faith is the mirror opposite, a great big hard effort, for a narrow small restricted life.

Sermons about the Occult

<< Back to Menu

Rom 1:25 They gave up the truth about God for a lie, and they worshiped God's creation instead of God, who will be praised forever. Amen.

Have you ever noticed that occultic book stores seem to glorify the deification of animals. Unicorns, dolphins, dragons, and many other mystical creatures. God says that this is a sign that shows that a person has moved away from the truth of who God is, they begin to worship creation instead of the creator. Don’t put your trust in tarot cards, palm reading, and fortune telling, these people have become deceived and moved away from the true knowledge of God.

Gal 5:19-23 People's desires make them give in to immoral ways, filthy thoughts, and shameful deeds. They worship idols, practice witchcraft, hate others, and are hard to get along with. People become jealous, angry, and selfish. They not only argue and cause trouble, but they are envious. They get drunk, carry on at wild parties, and do other evil things as well. I told you before, and I am telling you again: No one who does these things will share in the blessings of God's kingdom. God's Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways.

Sermons about the Holy Spirit

<< Back to Menu

The science fiction genera is filled with stories of alien races that are controlled by a single over mind that uses its psychic power to control its population. Star Trek has the Borg. The Borg assimilate other races, and control them using a hive mind. The Christian bible describes God’s spirit as living with in the believer, that the Christians body becomes the temple of the Holy Spirit. Christians are influenced in a special way by God. But unlike the Borg, Christ does not control Christians, He does not take over their mind or will, although he fills them. The job of the Holy Spirit is to instruct Christian, to teach, and correct them, protect them from harm, but he never controls them.

We only have a limited time on this earth, and before we die we must receive God’s Spirit. Our body will one day die, but if God dwells in us he will give life to us, we will be drawn away from hell beneath.

Rom 8:11-14 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

God is not like the Borg, he will not force you to do anything, but he does expect us to be open to his leading in life. If we have sin in our life, he wants to gently change us. He won’t push us and shove us around, but using love he will draw us into a life that is profitable. What honours God, not a broken life, full of suffering, but a life that is prospering. Every person, Christian or non Christian will experience some times of suffering, but God’s ultimate plan for us is to make our lives shine.

Some people believe that if the ingest tiger body parts that they will take on the strength of the tiger. Jesus made a interesting statement he said “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you”. Jesus was saying we needed to partake of him in order to take on life. When a person becomes a believer they take on the strength of God, they take on the power to stop sinning.

1Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Satan’s legal right to us is sin, but if we take on God we do not sin, so Satan has no access to us. If we still do sin we have either never know God, or have moved away from where we should be in regard to faith.

2Pe 1:9 For the person who lacks these qualities is blind and shortsighted, and has forgotten the cleansing that he has received from his past sins.

Sermons about Comparision

<< Back to Menu

In the original Shrek movie Fiona has a sing off with a bird, in an effort to reach the same note as Fiona the bird explodes. Comparison leads us to become jealous of others and can lead to hatred, it is good to learn to be happy with what we can do, and not strive to compete with others.

Gal 6:2 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

The other extreme with comparison is to think too highly of ourselves. As Christians God gives us the privilege to be able to help others, pray for the weak, and lead people into relationship with God. If we are not careful we can think that we are better than others, we may begin to think that God uses us because we have a better heart than other people, or more anointed. Our singing, preaching, praying of it’s self is nothing without God. Every one is a receiver of God, sure God likes us, and gives us position, but we should not think of others a less than us.

1Co 4:7 For who makes you superior? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not receive it?

Sermons about Science and Creation

When I was doing a University preparation course I was fascinated with the fact that shapes could be described using mathematical formulas. Cones have a formula for their surface area, and their volume. Now think for a moment what would it take to randomly generate a formula to describe the surface area of a cone. I would imagine randomly it would take millions or billions of mutations. Now think about cones in nature, in a sea urchin for example, how much more complex is that structure. Certainly many times more complex than a simple mathematical formula, to describe a single spike of a sea urchin could take, billions, trillions or more mutations. Now think of all the genus, and species out there with their individual branches, all the millions of insects, animals, fish, birds, bacteria, and humans. Individually each species would account for many trillion possible mutations, multiplied together all the possible combinations would amount to numbers and figures that I can’t even describe with words. Supposedly the Dinosaurs lived 245 million years ago. Now man, apes, birds, and all the animals we have today never existed at that time. Yet there are required to be an astronomical number of mutations in that time period to create man. That is only 87220 million days. This figure would required mutations to be happening at an accelerated rate, as I don’t know the exact figure for the complexity of man I could not say how many mutations would have to be happening each day, but it is too many to be feasible statistically speaking. Given the current rate of change in organisms it is a statistical impossibility for the evolution of man to have occurred. Nothing much has changed in 87220 million years, the sun still sines, the atmosphere is breathable, mutation rates would not have altered. The animals you see did not evolve through mutation, there are not enough days for it to have occurred. The order and complexity of the universe was created by God.

When I was at TAFE I learned to do three dimensional modelling and animation. Three dimensional modelling is used in many modern movies to create spectacular visual effects, and fantasy worlds. But regardless of how spectacular these worlds appear they can not match real life. I remember seeing a 3D model of a mechanical mouse, it had gears, and could move around. But it can not match the real live mice we have in our house. We actually had three mice in our house, we caught two, but one keeps evading us. Think of the complexity of a live mouse, its muscles, eyes, brain and claws. It is an amazing piece of machinery. There is no way within our human limitations that we could create a living mouse. Yet many people think that mice, people, fish, birds, all evolved through random chance. But what of humans, even if North Korea launched all its nuclear arsenal against South Korea, and the radiation caused mutation, it is likely to be destructive, it is unlikely that even one favourable mutation would occur. If a favourable mutation did occur it is unlikely to be passed on to future generations. Even if a mutation did occur it is unlikely to make any difference to the survival of the human species. Humans, apes, fish, birds, are already very well adapted to survival no current mutation would add anything to them in terms of survivability. The idea that survival drives evolution is not valid in today’s current context. Then finally think about the origin of life, there has always been something. Even if you believed that a big bang or explosion created the universe, surely there were already chemicals existing for the explosion to have happened. Life did not spontaneously generate out of nothing. There has always been something, and there will always remain something. I say that the complexity of life, our amazing ability to think, reason, and feel emotions, are the result of a creator God, who has always existed, not the result of random selection.

Sermons about Spirituality

<< Back to Menu

We have to learn to filter our thoughts. As a spiritual person you will encounter much opposition in the mind. Satan will constantly inject thoughts into your mind, to try to get you to think bad about others. To try to get you to lash out in hurt, or to hurt other people.

The bible says:

philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

How do we filter our thoughts by thinking good about other people, if you start to have negative thoughts about your pastor, or your wife, or anybody else make a point to not think about it but rather think about something good. Even ask God to show you the good in people you get negative thoughts about.

Most aircraft have avionics in their nose cone. Like radar, and other communication devices. The information collected by these instruments is sent to the pilot who must use his training to interoperate the data, proper interpretation leads to a safe and profitable flight. The Christian life is a little like this plane, we communicate with the Spirit world through our emotions, thoughts, and feelings, and we must use training to interoperate these feelings, and thoughts, proper interpretation will lead to a smooth and safe life, wrong judgment of these messages will lead to a spiritual plane crash. The bible says:

Ecc 2:14 The wise use their eyes, but the fool walks in darkness.

It is wise to seek God for guidance it leads to great success in life. I sought God for who to marry, he spoke to me and told me who to marry, and it worked out great. When chaplains were threatened in schools, I sought God to help prevent the gospel being taken out of the schools, and he spoke to me and took me to scientific case studies that proved the effectiveness of the gospel in reforming prisoners. These studies were handed to the people involved in the court case. Many times God has spoken to me, with salvations resulting, or people being rescued from harm. However in the midst of all of this the devils voice is also there quietly trying to discredit God’s works, and cause me to cause harm to others.

James 1:5 If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won't correct you for asking.

The first key in discerning God’s voice, is to continually ask for confirmation and understanding, don’t just assume that because you have prayed once you have heard God. When it comes to yourself don’t trust anything, use wisdom and patience. Test is it loving, edifying, and sure. I have never, not once, had God tell me something bad about anyone, or had him tell me to bring judgment on some one. He once told me a young famous person would die, and they did, shortly afterwards. But he has never said anything bad about any one. If you ever hear something bad about some one, ask God to reveal to you something good about that person. So when you meet them, even if they have hurt you, you have something edifying to share. If there really is something wrong God will uncover it in his time.

Luk 8:17 There is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, and there is nothing secret that will not become known and come to light.

The second key, is to not judge other peoples visions, or faith. From experience I have never had a Christian share a word they received from God, or their testimony without the devil saying they are not really a very dedicated Christian, or he tells me they heard of the devil himself. Satan is very persistent he will peddle this lie 24 hours a day, even when you ignore it he will continue and say “God is telling you this person is not dedicated, or not of God”, it will often times even feel like God. Never judge a person based upon a feeling, think the best of others. Encourage their visions, talk to them about them, and pray that they succeed in them. Often God will give a person a dream, vision, or call, and you will be unaware of it, if you listen to the feelings of judgment you will destroy their vision. Help others and encourage them.

Be wary of personal bias and opinion. If the devil can’t get you to sin, he will try to get you to become overly religious, you will disapprove of movies, music, and fun. You will think life is all about discipline, and hard work. But Jesus said:

Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Don’t tell people they can’t do things. Or that God does not approve of this or that. There is very little that God does not approve of. If the word of God does not say it is wrong, then don’t add to God’s words. It is what the Pharisees did. They made rule upon rule, and lost sight of the mercy and love of God.

Sermons about God

In the movie Battleship the alien race had a weakness, their weakness was light, they could not look directly at the sun. We are similar there are certain things that are too powerful for us, the sun is one example. No one can look at the sun without going blind. God’s own glory is described as being like the power of the sun.

Job 37:21-22 A person cannot look at the sun. It is too bright as it shines in the sky after the wind blows the clouds away. In the same way God's golden glory shines from the Holy Mountain. He is surrounded by the brightest light.

In the same way we have learned to respect the sun, so we should learn to respect God, he is far more powerful and capable that us. We don’t have the power over God, but he has the power over us.

Sermons about Miracles and Healing

<< Back to Menu

Today we are going to talk about divine healing. Not every time we pray a person will get healed. Some times they may heal naturally and we need to make the distinction. The following site investigates cases of reported divine healing. It is ran by doctors and documents cases where Christian prayer has been proved to heal people.

So have I experienced any divine healing. The answer is yes. I was visiting disabled people on a weekly basis. I met one disabled man who had permanent brain damage and could not speak due to his injuries. He had to use a thing similar to a keyboard to communicate. This particular man wanted to teach German, but it is a bit hard to teach a language when you can't speak. I set about fasting and praying for all the disabled people, at the end of the week of prayer the man who could not speak began to speak, every one at the centre was amazed that he could talk.

Also a lady I prayed for in Tasmania was healed instantly of a back problem when I prayed for her. I followed her up for some years to ensure she actually had been healed. Her back remained good.

One time during a religious education class I prayed for a girl with a broken arm, she came back the next week all exited and showed me her cast was off. I don’t know whether this was a healing or not, but she wanted to show me she was fixed.

Had a small miracle today. I did say small. Very small. Greater things than this have happened, like healing the sick, and getting really neat guidance from God, but I thought it was kind of cool. A few weeks ago God confirmed to me that he wanted to place a special blessing on his people. So I asked God what the next thing he wanted to do for me was. I thought it would be something major. But God said “Potato Chips”, I asked what brand, he said “Pringals”. I love this brand of chips, so I thought I would get some the next time I went shopping. I was not 100% sure it was God but I still checked out the chips. To my surprise this week they had a big special on Pringals chips, two packs for $5, a saving of around $2.50. So I got my chips cheaper. I did say this was a small blessing, but it was cool to get the chips at a reduced price. God’s blessings are not always in the big things, some times the small things count too.

Mat 17:27 But we don't want to cause trouble. So go cast a line into the lake and pull out the first fish you hook. Open its mouth, and you will find a coin. Use it to pay your taxes and mine."

The previous verse may seem odd, why did Jesus get Simon to go catch a fish. Well Simon was a fisherman before he met Jesus. Jesus asked Simon to do something that was easy for him. God will use your talents to do the miraculous. It maybe at work, at home, where ever you are, whatever you do. You might only know how to knit, or sew, but you can knit a heart on a jumper to tell someone you love them, or you could do odd sewing jobs for people. Take Tabitha in the bible as an example:

Act 9:36 In Joppa there was a follower named Tabitha. Her Greek name was Dorcas, which means "deer." She was always doing good things for people and had given much to the poor.

Sermons about Anger and Emotions

<< Back to Menu

Pro 22:24-25 Make no friendship with a man that is given to anger; And with a wrathful man thou shalt not go: Lest thou learn this ways, And get a snare to thy soul.

This does not mean that we should not associate with a person who is angry due to injustice done to them. But rather we should not be in agreement with the attitude that people who have a life style of anger have. Angry people often have cutting words, are critical of others. God wants us to think the best of others, being in agreement with a person who dislikes others is not a good thing. We need to all check our words and make sure they are not words that cut others apart.

Sermons about the bible and truth

Religion is a bit like a jigsaw puzzle. You can’t get the complete picture by just looking at one or two pieces. You need to expand your knowledge and learn about what God requires.

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

If we want to make sure we are truly doing what God wants, we need to investigate farther. Don’t just use the pieces of the puzzle you have, expand your knowledge.

When I was young I used to make paper aeroplanes, I would dream that they were real planes, and every flight was good fun. One day I learned from TV that if you attached a paper clip to the front of the plane it would fly further and faster. I tried it out on one of my planes, and true to form the plane went further and faster. The same thing happens when we invite Jesus into our lives, he takes as further than we can go on our own, and He balances out our life. But then I made a critical mistake, I added more paper clips than was needed to the front of my plane. Instead of steadying out the plane it abruptly dived and fell to the ground. The same thing happens with religion, inviting God into our lives will help us, but if we add to much religion to the natural life it will destroy our lives. Too much religion makes us unbalanced, joining God to our lives on the other hand enhances our natural life, and like the plane which flies further with the additional weight, God takes us further into enteral life, a place we can not reach without him being a part of our lives.

Ecc 7:16-17 Do not be overly righteous, nor be overly wise, it is self-destructive. Do not excel at wickedness, nor be a fool. Why die before your time?

Sermons about Unity

<< Back to Menu

It is easy enough to control a kayak by your self. But you can’t row a long boat with out unity. Unity is very important for many areas of life, family, marriage, work, church. The bible gives us some clues as to how to have unity

Eph 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

By being mindful of other people’s feelings, and listening to their point of view we move closer to unity. A further key to unity is to follow a leader. Often on a long boat there will be a drummer and every time he hits the drum the people row in unity. By listening through constant prayer to the beat that comes out from God we will be lead into a life style of unity. Listening to God will also lead you into the right direction in life.

Chains create flexible and strong cords that have many beneficial purposes. Chains are not made up of a single unit, but many interconnected parts. The strength of a chain is only as strong as its weakest unit. Our relationship to God and others should be similar to a chain. We don’t see ourselves as the whole deal, or the answer for everyone, but we interconnect with others. The most vital connection should be our connection to God; we should rely upon him, and join all our decision making to his. Then there is the connection with our family, we should seek to be interconnected with them on a very personal and intimate level. Finally there is the connection to the world, God wants to join all people in the world to his chain of strength, the church. We need to seek out the weak, broken, and damaged links among us, and the disconnected people of the world.

Sermons about Salvation

I often go to my local video shop and rent a DVD, usually an overnighter. If you rent The Hobbit, you can watch the movie and enjoy it, but you only have a single night to enjoy the feature film. If you don’t return the video you will get a late fee. The same is true of life, God has given us one life, it is like a short rental. Within that one day he has allowed us to share in the blessings of heaven on earth. However the day will come when we all have to die. If we don’t pay the full price for that video we can no longer enjoy its benefits, not only that we will have to pay a late fee. The late fee for not paying for life is hell, the bible calls it “eternal fire”, “torment”, “outer darkness”, “uninhabitable”, the late fee for our life is horrific, worse than any horror film you may have watched. But the good news is there is someone who has paid the price for our life so we can continue to receive its benefits. God says that if you come into relationship with him as the store owner, he will give you access to life eternally, he has paid the price through Jesus that we may experience life, creativity, and blessing forever.
