Douglas Wood Hostage Freed from Terrorists

Jesus frees a man from terrorists becasue of his kind heart

Some time after the second Gulf War an Australian man Douglas Wood was captured by terrorists in Iraq, who made demands for a ransom or he would be executed. I set about fasting and praying for his release, I said to God "You know where he is....tell me". Three words entered my mind ABC, Bazaar and "a meal". I thought "I am going crazy what has all that got to do with him. Bazaar I though "this is Bizarre". I thought maybe "a meal" is a town so I searched a map of Iraq for a town of that name, but found nothing that really matched. Some time latter Douglas Wood was freed by US troops who came across his captors. It was not until latter that I actually discovered what the three words meant. I was on a forum libertyunites.us and came across a post by a user called ABC in the post she appealed to the terrorists to release Douglas Wood because she had seen him go to a Bazaar (another name for shop) and bought food (sausages I think it was) for disadvantaged people and had provided them with "a meal". So the three words God had given me when I prayed were about that post. So God did not tell me where he was he told me what type of person Douglas Wood was a good man. I believe God saw Douglas Wood's kind action too and blessed with an escape from his captors.

This section is here to explain what occured in the above situation in more details. During the time after the second gulf war an Australian Contractor was captured by terrorist in Iraq. The terrorist basically said unless their demands were met he would be executed. There were probably many Christian people praying for him. I also decided to pray for him. So I set about praying and fasting for Douglas Wood's release. I was determined to not allow the injustice of his execution to occur. I thought Jesus can rescure this man. I though to my self about the prophets in the Old Testiment how God guided armies, and people by their words from God. So I said "God I believe we can do this today", show me where Douglas Wood is being held. I faced the wall, and prayed in faith believing Jesus would show me. Three words entered my mind, ABC, Bizaar and "A-meal". I had no idea what the words ment. In Australia we have a TV station called the ABC, so I though "Does God want me to contact them". I was a little confused. But thought I will search the Internet to see if I can find the place. I search for hours every where for a town with the name of "Ameal" on a map, I just really had no idea what I was doing. Eventaully in frustration I just gave up. Luckily for Douglas Wood he was freed by United States troops who happend to come accross his captors house. However I latter was on a forum that was set up to pray for and encourage troops in the Gulf War, it was a US site, i think it was called libertyunites.us. On a forum post there was a rather long post by a user called ABC. ABC had written an article asking the terrorists to have mercy on Douglas Wood becasue he had gone to a store, that she called a Bizzar, and had bought sausages for a group of people in some palace that I can't remember, and provided them with "A-Meal". So The words God had given me ABC, Bizzar, and "A-Meal", meant this guy is a good guy, he helps the disadvantaged, I will help him too. Jesus rather than give me a location, he gave me the knowlegde of his heart. His love for Douglas. Instead of bringing up faults, like his captors had done, God bought up his good points. I did try to send this story to Douglas Wood, to encourage him, but I don't know if he ever recieved it. I think this is a good time to write the words of Jesus, to remind us all God's heart towards our enemies, he did not say, torture them, kill them, he said in Luke 6:27-28 But I say unto you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you.

It is great when God answers peoples prayers and does rescue a person but what about other people who may be executed. It is always a fear becasue there is one of two places a person can go according to the bible one is heaven, and one is hell. Hell is reserved for those who are oppressive, violent, and hateful. Heaven is reserved for those who by doing good paitently preseve their souls. The question or fear may arrise well my family member was not a Christian and I know Christians teach you must have a relationship with God to be saved from hell. That is true, but you must understand a few things, God is extremly kind, loving, and merciful, and all powerful. In the above story God spoke to me diretly in an audiable way. He allowed me to hear his voice. God can speak confort, and love to a person who may their whole life have thought God was a monster or irrelivant. You may say well where is the proof. I came accross a story some years ago of a man who was an athiest, i.e. does not believe in God, as he was surfing and was stung by box jellyfish, as the poison from the jellyfish basically began to kill him, at that point a voice spoke to him and told him he was about to die, and asked him to forgive all the people who had hurt him in his life. He said he also saw the LORDs prayer, which is in the bible, it is Luk 11:4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. He latter died and was put into a morgue. He said he was totally concious of what was happening and went through a tunnel of light all the way up the tunnel to heaven where he said he experienced feelings of love like he had never experienced on earth before. God spoke to him and told him, I need to send you back, your mother (who was a christian) will think you have gone to hell, he also said the experience you have had has made you a born again Christian. So he came alive again in the morgue, to the supprise of all the staff. He tells his story in detail on his web site. So if youu are grieving for a lost one know that God has reached out to them too. However be aware that we all have choices to make, your choice to accept God's love maybe today. The bible says Jas 4:17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins. God wants us to do good, there is a story in the bible about it as follows: Mat 13:48-50 When it (a fishing net) was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away. This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous, and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. From that we can see there is both hope for us and also a warning for the wicked, like terrorists, murderurs, and liers, they will spend their eternity in hell. The law of God is only against those who do evil. So if you do good continue to do so. For the wicked their sin will be apon them. However becasue God is kind, he gives us all this day no matter how evil a chance to change. There is one final point to consider to enter the kingdom of God, you must be "born again", Jesus said. Born again is basically having a relationship with God via prayer and bible reading, but it is more than that it is having Jesus come and live on the inside of you, to help you if you have any difficulties in life. He loves you. Let us all pray that the violence that happened to Douglas Wood and others does not occur in the future, but if it does due to the hardness of mens hearts, who blind them selves to the mercy of God, or who are blined by false teaching, then lets try to rather than let it fill us with hatred, let us be filled with prayer and mercy for those who do these evil works that God may open their eyes to the truth also.
